Die a few times
This is the real counter. Nothing here reaches your stream or your chat.
Keys work too: D die, 5 five deaths, F respects, U undo, B beat the boss.
Add it to your stream
Four files, four tabs, one save. You need a free StreamElements account. On Kick, you'll also type your channel name.
Create the widget
In StreamElements open Streaming tools → Overlays and the overlay you stream with. Click +, then Static / Custom → Custom widget, then Open editor. You'll see the tabs HTML, CSS, JS and FIELDS.
Paste the four files
In each tab select everything, delete it, and paste the file with the same name from the copy station. Leave the DATA tab alone. Click Done, then Save.
Size it
Drag the widget box where you want it. The counter keeps its shape in the middle of the box: about 480 × 158 for the Banner, 260 × 260 for the Crest.
Die once, for science
On Kick, type your channel name in Counting → Kick channel first. Then type
!deathin your own chat. Then set up one button to count while you play.

You changed the look after copying FIELDS. Copy FIELDS again so StreamElements gets it.

Counting and commands
You and your moderators count from chat. The total is saved, so it's still there next stream.

Rename !death and !boss in Counting. Bigger moment every makes every 25th, 50th or 100th death hit harder.
One button while you play
The widget can't hear your keyboard while a game is in focus, so let a button type the command. Stream Deck: any action that sends a chat message, with the text !death. No Stream Deck: a moderator, or a phone app with a "send chat message" button.
Streaming on Kick
Type your Kick channel name in Counting → Kick channel. The counter reads your Kick chat from then on: !death, !boss and F all work, and Kick moderators count like Twitch moderators. Streaming to both? Both chats count into the same total.
Already have a bot counter?
If the StreamElements chatbot already runs a !death command with ${count deaths}, set How deaths are counted to My StreamElements bot counter and type its name (usually deaths). The widget shows that counter and plays the animation when it goes up. Its own !death switches off so nothing counts twice; boss commands still work.

Nothing happens when I type !death
Check Who can use the commands, and that How deaths are counted is set to this widget's commands. In bot counter mode, the StreamElements chatbot must have the !death command. On Kick, check the name in Kick channel: it's the one in your kick.com address.
It looks blurry or small
Make the widget box bigger in the overlay editor. The counter redraws sharp at every size.

Updates and questions
New versions go up at nymbra.studio/ashen-tally: paste the four files again and your count stays. Pasting over a widget keeps its current settings, so change them in the widget's settings panel (the gear icon). Stuck? Message us through the Nymbra shop on Etsy, we answer every message ourselves.
